Our cleaning is effective at improving your turbo engine. And though you may not think it, the cleaning of a turbo engine is important. This is because clean turbos are vital to peak engine performance. And over the years, the cleaning of a turbo engine has become one of our specialties.
Even the best built turbo engines will need cleaning. And without proper cleaning, then the performance suffers. We do a majority of our turbo engine cleaning in conjunction with our turbocharger remanufacturing. This is when we take apart the turbo engine to put all of it back together and updating some of the parts that needed replacement.
When it comes to the cleaning, there is light cleaning and aggressive cleaning. Depending on the state of the turbo engine, we will utilize one of these cleaning methods to clean it properly.
It doesn’t matter how well you build engines, transmissions, or turbochargers – if your parts are not cleaned properly, you are guaranteed to experience engine failure. In addition to turbo cleaning, we offer manifold, intake, and turbo accessory cleaning.
With light turbo engine cleaning, we start with baking soda or walnut shells and two light, but effective products for fragile aluminum blades. This before moving onto fluid cleaning using hot tanks and ultrasonic cleaning tubs. When it comes comes turbo engine cleaning, ultrasonic cleaning is the most advanced system to use for delicate parts. We utilize the latest technologies in order to deliver the best results.
Then we come aggressive turbo engine cleaning for the more difficult jobs. For this we will use glass beads, aluminum oxide, and/or a stainless shot. We may also use a shot pen for surface harding, cleaning compressor wheels, and strengthening the back of piston skirts. If necessary, we will tumble turbo parts, like the gears, seal plates, or compressor covers, to help smooth out edges for better performance.
When we rebuild and remanufacture turbo engines, we work on the bearings, too. Any upgrade for a turbo engine requires an upgrade in the bearings. We will work to find the best turbo parts that work best with the new turbo engine. From grooved bearings to conversions, will aim to improve the turbo engine by the end of the repair. Ultimately attempting to boost the longevity of the turbo engine.
Lastly, when upgrading and rebuilding a turbo engine, our staff highly recommends turbine wheel clipping. Especially when you choose to upgrade to larger compressor wheels or when there is a rebuild with small turbos in twin systems.
In general, clipping turbine wheels happens at three levels: 5 degrees, 10 degrees, and 15 degrees. Clipping can happen at higher degrees, however this is typically through a special request.
When you clip the turbine wheel, it generally increases the mid-range and top-end power of the engine. As well as greatly increases the exhaust flow through the turbine blades. And will reduce the back-pressure upstream of the turbocharger. Turbine wheel clipping produces great results on many different makes and models of engines.
